About the organizers

1 -Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences      (AUASS

The Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences is an astronomical and space organization headquartered in Amman, Jordan. It was officially established in 1998 and includes most Arab scientists, researchers, and amateurs in the fields of space and astronomy sciences and atmospheric research. It is one of the specialized unions affiliated with the Arab Economic Unity Council of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States since 2001 and is also a member of the International Astronomical Union. Currently, it is headed by the Iraqi-born astronomer Professor Hamid Mjool Al Nuaimi, the General Director of the University of Sharjah, and its Secretary-General is Dr. Engineer Awni Al-Khasawneh from Jordan. The honorary president of the union is Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah.

2- University of Nouakchott

The University of Nouakchott, founded in 1981, is the first public university established in Mauritania. It is a large institution with colleges and institutes within the capital, Nouakchott, and in other states. The university offers education in most globally recognized disciplines following the LMD system (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate). In terms of scientific research, the university produces dozens of studies from its various structures and doctoral schools. It also organizes many international periodic conferences.

3- Mauritanian Astronomical Society

Founded in 2019, the Mauritanian Astronomical Society brings together a select group of Mauritanian professors and researchers specialized in space and astronomy sciences. This has granted the society a research and educational character, making it present at most scientific conferences held in the region in recent years. Additionally, the society plays an important role in education by collaborating with the University of Nouakchott and the Ministry of Education in curriculum development. The society actively participates in various community segments, making it accessible to all. It aims to achieve ambitious goals such as establishing an astronomy department at the University of Nouakchott and creating an international observatory in Mauritania.
